Funding
Union Station, Kansas City, Inc. (Kansas City, MO) received a gift of $500,000 from the Sunderland Foundation to help preserve and protect the expansive and historic Union Station exterior surfaces. The work is already underway and scheduled for completion in mid-2018.
The Charlie Parker Memorial Foundation’s Kansas City Arts Outreach and the American Jazz Museum (Kansas City, MO) are partnering to expand the museum’s Kansas City Jazz Academy – a music education program that serves youth in the Kansas City area. The new partnership will provide toddlers and elementary school students with access to a new and innovative curriculum.
The Iowa West Foundation Board of Directors recently approved $4 million in grants and initiatives funding to 29 nonprofit organizations and government entities in southwest Iowa and eastern Nebraska including a $25,000 grant to the Durham Museum (Omaha, NE) for general operating initiatives.
Awards and Recognition
Congratulations to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum (St. Augustine, FL) for achieving accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums. The Whatcom Museum (Bellingham, WA) and the Witte Museum (San Antonio, TX) have earned reaccreditation.
