Puerto Rico Symposium– Dialogues across the Puerto Rican and Caribbean Diaspora
Smithsonian Afiliations and the Smithsonian Latino Center have partnered with the Museo y Centro de Estudios Humanísticos (MCEH) at the Universidad del Turabo, a Smithsonian Affiliate, to present this symposium in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, November 15-16, 2018. (8:30 a.m. EST). Framingham State University, Framingham, MA, and the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, San Antonio, TX, will join the online discussion. The webcast will bring together U.S., Caribbean, and Puerto Rican scholars to engage in exchanges about migration, music, art, literature, education, history, and diasporic experiences.

Lineage Outreach Program for Affiliates
Nurture the budding paleontologists in your community while building capacity in your organization to offer new and engaging fossil-based experiences for the whole family. Through a National Science Foundation sub-award, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and Twin Cities Public Television are offering sub-awards to up to three Smithsonian Affiliates to enhance family programming in their communities and support professional development on science content and informal learning techniques.

The Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program offers opportunities for independent research or study related to Smithsonian collections, facilities, and/or research interests of the Institution and its staff. Fellowships are offered to graduate students, predoctoral students, and postdoctoral and senior investigators to conduct independent research and to utilize the resources of the Institution with members of the Smithsonian professional research staff serving as advisors and hosts.
