The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research is a consortium of more than 100 member colleges and universities focused on research and training in the atmospheric and related Earth system sciences. UCAR’s exhibitions in the Mesa Lab of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder include the history of “supercomputing” and are a destination for thousands of tourists and school children each year. NCAR was the recipient of the Smithsonian Computerworld Award for designing a massive data storage system to aid the work of greenhouse researchers.
