The High Desert Museum creates learning experiences through exhibitions and living history, promoting a deeper understanding of the region surrounding Bend, Oregon. The Desertarium introduces wildlife in the High Desert; the 1904 Miller Family Ranch offers a glimpse back in time into the lives of homesteaders, tradesmen, timber cruisers, and miners; and exhibitions like By Hand Through Memory traces the journey of the Plateau Indian Nations. The Museum has hosted Smithsonian traveling exhibitions and plans to bring more future Smithsonian programs to Oregon.
