The Tampa Bay History Center serves as a cultural venue and a dynamic learning resource, offering interactive exhibitions and educational programs at its location along the Riverwalk in Tampa's Channel District. Its material focuses on 12,000 years of Floridan history, telling the stories of Florida's first people, Spanish conquistadors, pioneer families, immigrant cigar rollers, and sports legends. As a Smithsonian affiliate, it has hosted the exhibition Patios, Pools, & the Invention of the American Backyard, a traveling exhibition developed by the Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens and Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).
