The Reginald F. Lewis Museum is the second largest African American museum on the East Coast, and is an exceptional facility highlighting the history and accomplishments of Maryland's African American community. The museum strives to create a climate for the appreciation of the rich contributions in history, art, material culture and spiritual expressions of African American Marylanders, from their earliest lives to the present. Special exhibitions and programs also connect Maryland's experiences and traditions to those of the wider world. The Museum collaborates regularly with the Smithsonian on traveling exhibitions and public programming that showcases the accomplishments and traditions of Maryland's African American community.
