The Polk Museum of Art houses collections that include such artists as Ansel Adams, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Jasper Johns, Picasso, and Tiffany Studios. In addition to modern and contemporary art, it collects African, Asian, and pre-Columbian art, as well as works of decorative arts. Through its affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, the museum has exhibited paintings from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and has also hosted the Smithsonian National Museum of American History Lemelson Center's Innoskate Program, a major public festival celebrating skate culture.
