The Kentucky Historical Society, established in 1836, is a steward of Kentucky's historical treasures. It serves as an umbrella organization for the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, the Martin F. Schmidt Research Library, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military History Museum at the State Arsenal. Visitors can view exhibitions displaying such materials as military objects and decorative arts and explore 12,000 years of Kentucky history-- from its earliest period through its development as a Commonwealth to the 20th century. The society offers a wealth of educational and research resources: users can access the KHS collections online and onsite, request research services, utilize lesson plans, and coordinate field trips with the society.
