The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is home to more than 150,000 historical and scientific objects, emphasizing Texas and the Southwest. The substantial science collection consists of cataloged specimens representing botany, entomology, zoology, geology, paleontology, and more. The history collection encompasses items ranging from prehistoric artifacts and to contemporary cultural objects. Interactive exhibitions and programs champion informal, discovery-based learning. Interns supported by the Smithsonian Institution have produced content for a newly-installed, digital-first gallery based on the Museum's experience with hands-on learning. The Museum also houses the Noble Planetarium, which presents astronomy and culturally-themed shows to guests of all ages. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, the Museum has hosted Smithsonian scholars, workshops, and traveling exhibitions.
