Resources you can use!

Search over 110,000 fossil and biological specimens

Our Collections Department is opening a virtual door on over 110,000 fossil and biological specimens. The Museum’s collection records will now be publicly available through Arctos, a web-based database managed by a consortium of organizations and museums, including several Smithsonian Affiliates.

Opportunities for Affiliates presented by this database include searching for potential specimen loans, data use for research, and collaborating to make better data.

The Education Department has coloring pages, videos, activities, experiments and more on our new Science @ Home Page. We are always happy to collaborate on new museum education programming of any sort and are willing to share any of our resources for adaptation to your museum’s needs. Download guides, coloring sheets, and participate in online virtual programs here.

Peer to Peer Opportunities

Our teen Junior Docent program is seeking other teen groups to share information with, design programming for, and especially to arrange peer to peer opportunities.
