Strange Paradise: A Window into Surrealism exhibition
The Strange Paradise: A Window into Surrealism exhibition will celebrate the works of artists who draw influence from symbols and themes from the Surrealist period of art history. From abstract “automatic” works to realistic scenes inspired by dreams and nightmares, Surrealism’s attraction for artists is revolutionary for creative potential. The works included in 'Strange Paradise' will unite the fantastical with the familiar and link art history with contemporary practice. Anne Hyland, curatorial coordinator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, juried the Strange Paradise exhibition at Annmarie Garden. She has a background in art history and museum studies, and has been with SI since 2017; she's also worked at Glenstone.
