American Women's History Initiative Affiliate Application for Funding

2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women’s right to vote. To celebrate, the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative will create, disseminate, and amplify the historical record of the accomplishments of American women. Smithsonian Affiliations is offering a funding opportunity for Affiliates in support of the Initiative’s new book, Smithsonian American Women. Ninety-five authors from around the Institution contributed to the book, and many of them are ready to travel to Affiliates to speak on a number of topics.

Affiliates will be awarded $500 to help defray the costs of bringing one of the contributing authors to your community to talk about the Initiative, the book, and their research as featured in the book.

Programs must be held by December 31, 2020. Affiliations’ National Outreach Managers will work with Affiliates to match Smithsonian speakers based on the speakers’ areas of expertise and Affiliates’ interests. A list of sample topics is listed on our website- affiliations.si.edu/american-womens-history-initiative/

To apply to receive this funding, please complete this brief application. Please review and compile all the necessary material before beginning to apply. You cannot save and return to the form. If you have questions, please contact us.
