The Schiele Museum of Natural History & Lynn Planetarium promotes awareness and appreciation for nature, instilling a sense of individual and social responsibility for the diversity of the natural world and the role of humanity in it. It features the largest collection of land mammal specimens in the Southeast. The museum hosted scholars, traveling exhibitions, and mammal specimen loans from the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History. Its 2016 temporary exhibition, Solar System: A Journey of Exploration, features two artifacts on loan from the National Air and Space Museum. The museum also participated in the 2016 Youth Capture the Colorful Cosmos program.
