Framingham State University is an arts and sciences college founded in 1839 as the nation’s first public university for the education of teachers. The University now offers 53 degrees in a range of disciplines, from philosophy to physics to over a thousand students every year and maintains to this day its status as a leader in teacher education. The University’s Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning, named in honor of their illustrious alumna, regularly collaborates with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, including recently hosting the From Earth to the Universe exhibition from the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and receiving a collection of deep space images from the Smithsonian’s Chandra X-ray Observatory.
