History Colorado, a historical society, provides public access to cultural and heritage resources of Colorado. Offering exhibitions and special programs, it is home to several museums statewide, such as the Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center, Ute Indian Museum, and El Pueblo History Museum. Its archives, library and research center, and preservation collection steward Colorado’s historic treasures. There are additional educational resources for schools, students and teachers and services related to preservation, archaeology, and history. History Colorado has hosted several Smithsonian traveling exhibitions—including a rare display of the bible owned and edited by Thomas Jefferson—and has been an ongoing participant in the Smithsonian’s annual National Youth Summit.
