Florida International University (FIU) has emerged as one of South Florida's major cultural assets. The Patricia and Phllip Frost Art Museum at FIU, housing one of the world's finest collections of modern outdoor sculpture, has garnered a prestigious reputation for its innovative exhibitions and programs. Past exhibitions include "The Art of Video Games," a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The Wolfsonian-FIU promotes the collection, preservation, and understanding of decorative arts and design from the period between 1885 and 1945. Past exhibitions include "Women, Art, and Social Change: The Newcomb Pottery Enterprise," a collaboration between the Smithsonian Instituiton Traveling Ehibition Service and the Newcomb Art Gallery at Tulane University. The Jewish Museum of Florida documents the Jewish experience in Florida. Beginning from when Jews were first allowed to settle in 1763 up to the present, the Museum explores the richness and diversity of Jewish life, the unique ways in which Florida Jews influence and are influenced by the historic and cultural dynamics of Florida, the nation, and the world, and issues of discrimination against all peoples in Florida.
