Opened in 1990, the Irving Arts Center is home to the performing and fines arts community in Irving, Texas. The 10-acre complex serves as a lively hub of community celebration, featuring theaters, galleries, classrooms, and event facilities. Its Sculpture Garden showcases commissioned works by James Surls, Jesús Moroles, and Michael Manjarris, as well as a Reuben Nakian sculpture, on long-term loan from the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. An Affiliate since 2007, the Arts Center hosted the exhibition Within the Emperor's Garden: The Ten Thousand Springs Pavilion, organized by the Smithsonian’s Museum Conservation Institute. It became a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2007.
