Millard Sheets Art Center

Pomona, California

The Millard Sheets Art Center first began as the Fine Arts Program of the Los Angeles County Fair in 1922. Its 1937 gallery, commemorating California artist and teacher Millard Sheets, was the first major gallery dedicated solely to art in Los Angeles County. Today it creates innovative programming and partnerships that support artists, students, and the community, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to art. Since partnering with the Smithsonian in 2002, it has hosted artifacts from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and the National Postal Museum.
