Smithsonian Affiliations Visiting Professionals Program

Announcing an expanded Visiting Professionals Program for 2018

We are growing our professional development program and want to share the news with you!

In 2018, Smithsonian Affiliations will launch a two-week, professional development cohort program for mid-level professionals from Affiliate organizations. With support from the Getty Foundation, our goal is to reach a more diverse group of practitioners across the field and provide in-depth access to Smithsonian subject experts, resources, and collections that otherwise may not be available in local communities.

In 2018 and 2019, Smithsonian Affiliations will host 10 fellows each year— nearly doubling the number of annual participants in the Visiting Professionals Program. In addition to expanding the number of participants, the new cohort groups in 2018 and 2019 will focus on the opportunities and challenges of using technology in cultural organizations that house art collections.

Collaborating across the Smithsonian and with our Affiliate partners allows us the opportunity to provide a professional development program that fosters a greater sense of community and sharing of expertise, knowledge, and skills.

Check back in early 2018 for program details. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Bugbee, Communications and Professional Development Manager, 202-633-5304, BugbeeE@si.edu.

Professional development updates will be sent through the Affiliate eNewsletter. Make sure you are signed up!
