GROUND TRANSPORTATION

The official conference location is the S. Dillon Ripley Center located between the Smithsonian "Castle" and the Freer Gallery of Art on the National Mall. The Ripley Center is located at the Smithsonian Metro stop, accessible via orange and blue line trains. For Washington, DC Metro information please visit http://www.wmata.com/. FROM: RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT (DCA)

  • Metrorail: Approximate travel time to downtown Washington from the National Airport rail station is 12 minutes. Metrorail fare depends upon final destination and whether travel is during rush or non-rush hours. Average fare from National Airport to L'Enfant Plaza is approximately $2.80 (non-rush hour) to $3.20 (rush hour).

  • Super Shuttle: This door-to-door, shared-ride service will pick you up or take you anywhere within the Washington Metropolitan area. A fleet of 117 vans, which hold up to seven passengers, provides service from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. daily. Follow signs at National Airport for ground transportation. Twenty-four hour advance reservations are recommended. Approximate one-way fare from the airport to downtown Washington is $14 for the first passenger at $10 for each additional passenger. http://www.supershuttle.com

  • Taxi Service: Cabs are available at the exits of each terminal, and dispatchers are on-site to assist passengers. Average fare to downtown Washington, D.C. is $15. Travel time is approximately 10 minutes, depending upon traffic.

FROM: DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (IAD)

  • Super Shuttle: This door-to-door shared-ride service will pick you up or take you anywhere within the Washington Metropolitan area. A fleet of 117 vans, which hold up to seven passengers, provides service from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. daily. Follow signs at the airport for ground transportation. The Super Shuttle boarding area is on the lower level. Approximate one-way fares from Dulles Airport to Washington, D.C. range from $24 to $28. Twenty-four hour advance reservations are recommended; call Super Shuttle at 800-BLUEVAN (1.800.258.3826) or book online http://www.supershuttle.com.

  • Washington Flyer Taxi: 24-hour service taxi service to and from the airport terminals. For information or to arrange transportation, call 703.661.6655. Taxicabs accept American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa, and provide transportation at metered rates to any destination in metropolitan Washington. Approximate one-way fare to Washington, D.C. is $52. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes, depending upon traffic.

  • The Washington Flyer Coach Service: http://www.washfly.com/flyer_bus_about.htm Washington Flyer Coach Service will take you non-stop to Metro's West Falls Church Station for just $10 one-way or $18 round-trip. Bus service is available every 20-30 minutes (6 a.m.-10:30 p.m. weekdays; 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. weekends). Approximate travel time on the subway to L'Enfant Plaza Hotel from this Metrorail station is 27 minutes. Metrorail fare depends upon final destination and whether travel is during rush or non-rush hours. Base fare is $3.00; maximum fare is $4.20.

FROM: BALTIMORE WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BWI)

  • Airport Taxi Management: Service is available from the lower level near each airport exit. Approximate fare from BWI Airport to Washington, D.C. is $90. For information, call 410-859-1100. Note that this service is available from BWI only. For cabs and rates to BWI, consult a local cab company. Approximate travel time to downtown Washington is 55 minutes.

  • Amtrak and MARC Commuter Trains: Amtrak and Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) trains run between Washington's Union Station and the BWI Rail Station. A free, ten-minute shuttle runs between the airport terminal and the BWI Rail Station; the train trip between Union Station and BWI Rail Station takes approximately 30 minutes. Amtrak trains (202.484.7540 or 1.800.872.7245, 1.800.872.7245, or http://www.amtrak.com/) run 5 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., with more than 30 trains making the trip daily. One-way adult fares range from $14 to $47, depending on time and train type.

    MARC trains (1.800.325.7245, http://mta.maryland.gov/marc-train) depart Monday through Friday every 30 minutes during peak hours and hourly at other times; there is no weekend service. Service from BWI is between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.; from Union Station, between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. One-way adult fare is $6.

PARKING

Colonial Parking owns and operates a parking facility directly underneath the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel. Valet Parking is available at $42.00 plus tax per night (including in/out privileges). Self-park is also available at $40, (including in/out privileges, but you must bring your ticket to the front desk to confirm this rate).
