National Canal Museum/Hugh Moore Historical Park & Museums

Location: Easton, PA

Description: National Canal Museum is the only museum in the country dedicated to telling the story of America's historic towpath canals. It explores the greater Lehigh Valley's rich industrial and transportation heritage through the Museum, historic Hugh Moore Park, and Emrick Center. Visitors to the Museum experience hands-on how canals work through award-winning Waterworks and Towpath Town exhibitions, and can take a mule-drawn canal boat ride. Its archives, library and technology center houses collections of historic photographs, artifacts, and film footage relating to the history of canals, early railroads, steel production, and other industries which spawned the Industrial Revolution that 'built' America. The National Canal Museum currently has several canal-related tools and objects on loan and on view from the National Museum of American History.
